Francisco Mejía
Francisco has had an international career working for two global companies in the US, Mexico and Colombia, taking positions of increasing responsibility in the finance function, and has also consulted in finance and strategy in Colombia. His most recent position was as CEO of Banco Agrario de Colombia (BAC), which is the only state bank, and the six largest commercial bank in the country.
His main academic and professional interest has been the in intersection of strategy and finance, ie, the role of the CFO in advising the CEO in strategies for value creation and the measurement of value. This approach allowed him to achieve the outstanding results during his four year tenure at BAC: increasing net income by three fold and return on equity (ROE) by two fold.
Also, his recent involvement in the public sector, coupled with his vast international experience, has given him a distinct ability to analyze the impact of geopolitical developments in business, which is the other area of interest for him.
