Guia Quagini

About me

I was born and raised in Verona, Italy. At the age of 15, I decided to move to a boarding school in England to do an International Baccalaureate, where I was mainly studying business and computer science. I am now a third-year student in the Bachelor in Data & Business Analytics at IE University.

"IE University is not a typical university, as its focus is not on exams and grades, but on actually making students the best versions of themselves and preparing them for their future work."

Preparing for a future in data and technology

Guia Quagini, originally from Verona, Italy, fell in love with programming and business-related subjects while in high school. This passion found expression through a move to England at the age of 15 to study an International Baccalaureate focused on business and computer science. When the time came to choose a university, she was eager to continue studying in the same vein.

When Guia read about the Bachelor in Data and Business Analytics, she was impressed by how up-to-the-minute all the subjects were. The decision to enroll was an easy one. Now, well into her third year of studies, Guia can say that her first impressions ring true: IE University is not a typical university, as its focus is not on exams and grades, but on actually making students the best versions of themselves and preparing them for their future work.

Guia spent her first year on IE University’s Segovia campus, which she describes as the perfect way to break the ice and to create relationships in a close-knit environment. When she later moved to the big city of Madrid, she was able to do so with a sense of belonging, as she already knew a lot of people with whom she could explore the city. Now, some of the things Guia loves most about the day-to-day in Madrid are going to the park when it’s sunny and meeting friends for drinks or for coffee.

Guia has also found clubs at IE University to be helpful in getting connected—she participated in the IE Tennis Club while in Segovia, and she is now a member of the IE Technology & Innovation Club. She can’t recommend highly enough “getting into the uni life, as you can get a lot out of it.”

In terms of professional experiences, Guia feels that IE University has one of the best networks out there. She says the professors are really caring and always willing to help people who want to do well in life and are motivated. And Guia certainly possesses that motivation herself; she believes that small actions can bring you a long way if performed with constancy. In the future, she would love to keep working in the world of AI and apply her knowledge to help the environment through the power of technology. We have no doubt she’ll do exactly that.
