Students from the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John´s University of Minnesota are taking part in a cultural immersion program at IE University

Students from the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John´s University of Minnesota, U.S.A. are taking part in a Spanish language and culture program in the Santa Cruz la Real Campus, in Segovia. The program is part of the agreement between IE University and the American university, which is an international reference in Humanities studies and international programs in countries all around the world.

25 American students, chosen very carefully among the best, will be taking for 4 months a linguistic and cultural immersion course, where they will take classes not only on language, art, culture and history, but also on such interesting topics as mythical thought and political actuality by IE University professors, who have an outstanding experience in teaching foreign students.

To help them absorb better the truth of the country, the students are living in segovian homes, where they can learn in situ the ways and customs of Spain. The goal is for them to go back to the States speaking fluent Spanish and with an actual knowledge of the country. Alongside classes, they will have a broad range of activities, as guided tours of the most emblematic monuments of Segovia, and cities as Madrid, Salamanca, Barcelona and Seville, among others.

The director of the program of the Minnesota University, Vilma Walter has expressed her satisfaction with the success of the project that she is coordinating with IE University professor Juan José Prat Ferrer. “For all the years our universities have collaborated, this program – one of our best – has been proved as a very fulfilling experience for all our students, both in the academic part and as a life experience. Especially because of its careful organization” she maintains.

Saint Benedict/St John’s University College is one of USA’s models on international programs; and they possess one of the biggest medieval manuscripts collections on the world. Some professors of IE University, specialists in Humanities, have made their research in this American university.
