IE University labs offer to students the chance to develop unique practical skills, get interdisciplinary knowledge and work in challenging projects. One of these labs coming strong is the Architecture lab, named d-Lab, where 12 students of the Bachelor in Architecture are working already in real projects mentored by expert professors in different areas. The coordinator is Professor Romina Canna that assures “d-Lab is an initiative to offer students the chance to work with real clients and problems, allowing them the unique opportunity of getting professional experience. This lab is an ideal space where we can shorten the distance between the exercise and the learning of the trade.”

Canna also says that “thanks to this space and to a very early stage on their career, the students can submerge themselves in all the project’s phases, absorbing directly the implications derived from working in assignments of very different scale and requirements.” The d-Lab has now four clients, both institutional and private, in projects that go from an object design to urban design.

In IE university labs, the students can work in direct collaboration with enterprises and, also, begin building their own business from the university, mentored constantly by their professors. The open labs at IE go from areas such as sports or marketing to psychology, communication, law or social projects.
