Around 70 IE University students have begun to work in the corporate lab facilities in La Casa de la Moneda in Segovia, where they will develop projects related to architecture, art, communication, law, sports, finance, management and psychology. The students, who were welcomed this Monday by the director of the lab, Professor Francisco Mata, will work in this space fulltime from Monday to Thursday until the end of June.

They will focus their work in 8 projects and in the business incubator of IE University, planned to raise new entrepreneurial ideas within the students and develop external advisory programs.

The Business Lab was set up under an agreement with the city of Segovia, who gave the premises of the cultural building for this purpose. The building is located a few metres from the private IE campus, located in the historic Convent of Santa Cruz la Real. The Mint, founded by Philip II and built by Juan de Herrera between 1583 and 1588, concluded its restoration two years ago. With this initiative IE University aims to become a bridge between the university and the company and promote entrepreneurial culture in Castilla y León. The academic institution aims to contribute actively in the recovery of regional economic development and empowerment abroad.

The laboratory expects to be an innovative business incubator. A large group of students from different countries have managed to discover international business opportunities. An example of this is 'Tyba', a company created by IE University students who received the Audience Award at the international conference of young entrepreneurs in Amsterdam organized by the portal 'The Next Web'.

'Tyba' is an online junior recruitment platform that allows students and graduates to show their full professional potential. The start-up opened its offices in September 2011 and has a team of twelve people from nine different nationalities.
