Global Alumni Weekend 2023 at IE University

The Global Alumni Weekend will feature the participation of the deans and vice deans of the five IE University schools.

IE University brings together graduates from 61 countries this weekend to celebrate the Global Alumni Weekend 2023, the institution’s annual alumni gathering. The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence, the transformation of the business world, and the impact of geopolitics will be debated by a series of panels that will take place at IE Tower, the institution’s technological and sustainable campus in Madrid.

Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño, President of IE University, will take part in the inaugural panel with Erik Schlie, Vice President of Alumni & Careers, and share his vision of ‘The Next 50’, IE’s initiative to understand the challenges we will face in the coming decades, and prepare us for the challenges that will mark our lives and the new world of work. As part of ‘The Next 50’, IE University’s major annual events in 2023, graduation ceremonies, new editions of South Summit, Hay Festival, and Reinventing Higher Education will also look to the future. Research will also play a prominent role. IE University’s Center for the Governance of Change will present the conclusions of a study that will allow us to glimpse the challenges of the future at the closing event to be held at IE Tower at the end of 2023.

The Global Alumni Weekend will feature the participation of the deans and vice deans of IE Business School, IE Law School, IE School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs, IE School of Sciences & Technology and IE School of Architecture & Design, as well as executives from the business world who will share their views on the main trends in each sector.

“We have a platform of more than 80,000 alumni in 180 countries.”
Erik Schlie, Vice President of Alumni & Careers at IE University

“They are our best ambassadors in the world and we are delighted to celebrate another annual Global Alumni Weekend, which is an opportunity to discuss the main challenges facing the business world, in technology, leadership, and business management,” said Erik Schlie, Vice President of Alumni & Careers at IE University.

Graduates will also participate in the annual gala dinner, where the EPIC Awards will be presented to the winners in the categories of Business Impact, Creators, Human Success, Women Inspiring Women, and Young & Ambitious Minds. These yearly awards recognize those members of the IE Community whose social commitment is an example to follow. “Each year, the EPIC Awards acknowledge alumni who are an example for our community: entrepreneurs who transform society with disruptive business models, executives with exemplary careers, leaders who promote digital transformation, sustainability and diversity management in their organizations, and people who go a step further and mobilize society with social impact projects,” said Julia Sanchez, Director of Global Alumni Relations at IE University.
