IE University students to discover hidden treasures of the Museo del Prado’s collection

IE University students will discover artistic gems from the Museo del Prado collection thanks to the lecture series ‘Beyond the Museo del Prado: creativity, innovation and hidden treasures in the collection’ organized by the Friends of the Museo del Prado Foundation, the IE Foundation and IE University’s Division of Arts and Humanities. IE Tower, the new technological and sustainable campus of the academic institution in Madrid, has been hosting these conferences since yesterday.

Today, Teresa Parladé Browne-Swinburne, an expert from the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation, will explain how the Prado’s works reveal to us the essence of creative intelligence, innovation and the expression of thought. IE University students from 140 countries will be able to discover unique pieces from the collection and reflect on the talent and work of masters such as El Bosco, El Greco, Titian, Rubens, Velázquez and Goya.

The first lecture of the conference cycle will show pieces that have rarely been seen for decades, or even centuries. These are unique works of art, exceptional either for their technical, aesthetic and thematic qualities or for the particular circumstances that surrounded them.

These sessions are part of the collaboration between IE University and the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation for the promotion of the arts and humanities. Thanks to this initiative, IE University students have been able to receive training in the programs offered by the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado.

IE University’s Division of Arts and Humanities has launched a Diploma in Arts, Humanities and Technology. This is the first academic program offered by the division and is an opportunity for undergraduate students to gain a humanistic perspective regarding the most revolutionary events of the 21st century, especially in the context of the technological revolution.
