Students at IE University will collaborate with UNESCO through internships, capstone projects and academic visits to the UN agency’s headquarters in Paris.

Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Manuel Muñiz, Provost of IE University, signed an agreement to launch a collaboration at the crossroad of humanities and technology.

In the upcoming months, UNESCO and IE University will develop a series of initiatives including training programs in the field of humanities and digital societies, and joint applied research activities on strategic foresight and the ethics of artificial intelligence. Undergraduate and graduate students at IE University will also collaborate with UNESCO through internships, capstone projects and academic visits to the UN agency’s headquarters in Paris.

In line with SDG 17 on Global Partnerships for Sustainable Development, Gabriela Ramos highlighted: “At UNESCO we are very excited to join forces for something that brings us together: build a more human digital economy through a collaboration with the world of academia and the private sector.”

“As an academic institution, IE University is very invested in developing research, teaching, and leadership in the space of governance of emerging technologies. We look forward to working with UNESCO on many applied topics.”
