Jacob Van Etten, a Dutch researcher, gave a lecture today at IE University as part of Science Week 2009

Jacob Van Etten, researcher, declared today at IE University that “Mankind´s greatest invention has been the domestication of plants”. Following his argument, he continued saying that “humans have evolved from hunter-gatherers to farmers the minute they realized they could develop agriculture; harvesting crops by following the evolution of wild plants”. This human interference in the performance of wildlife increased the supply of food which “was vital to the development and survival of human species”. Mr. Van Etten´s intervention at the Segovia-based University was part of Science Week 2009, which runs until November 19th in the Castilla y León region.
