IE University, through its Arts and Humanities Division and the IE Foundation, is also taking part in the MMMAD Urban Digital Art Festival in Madrid. The academic institution is hosting two installations at IE Tower: 'Sediment Nodes', by the Entangled Others studio, and 'Ipseity', by Enrique Agudo, who features in the Forbes list of the most creative people in the world. The works will be on display until May 31 at IE Tower, the technological and sustainable campus of IE University in Madrid.
These digital installations incorporate artificial intelligence and explore themes such as the environment, contemporary ideas of identity and the relationship between humans and technology. The exhibition opens today with a panel discussion moderated by Catalina Tejero, Vice Dean of the Division of Arts and Humanities at IE University on generative, digital and sustainable art, featuring Entangled Others and Enrique Agudo, as well as Diego Iglesias, co-founder of MMMAD. This event also marks the beginning of Arts and Humanities Week, an opportunity for IE University to highlight the importance of the meeting of the arts and humanities with technology, its approach for providing a more complete and enriching personal and professional development for its students.
Over the course of the week, there will be master classes, presentations and guided tours by experts from the Thyssen Museum, Fundación Amigos del Teatro Real, Fundación Amigos Museo del Prado, Yamaha Music, , Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía and the Fundación Ortega-Marañón.
"This year, we felt it was essential to reflect on technological progress during our annual celebration of the arts and humanities."
Catalina Tejero, Vice Dean of the Division of Arts and Humanities at IE University
"The different activities programmed aim to awaken critical thinking in our community about how technology is influencing human beings and how, in turn, human beings can put technology at their service so that its use translates into real progress for people and society, from a holistic point of view," explains Catalina Tejero.
For the eighth consecutive year, IE University is holding the IE Foundation Prizes in the Humanities, which honors the best creative works created by students, graduates, faculty and staff who are part of the IE University community. This week, last year's award-winning pieces can be viewed through a virtual reality experience.
