The Advisory Board of the 10th edition of Hay Festival Segovia will comprise ten representatives from civil society. The opening ceremony of the Festival, created by Peter Florence in 1987, is set to take place on September 19th and will run from September 24 to 27.

The overarching aim of the initiative, announced by the president of the HAY Festival of Literature and the Arts, Revel Guest, is to encourage the participation of society in the running of one of Spain’s biggest multicultural events. Together with public institutions and over a hundred sponsors, and with the support of government institutions, the new advisory board will help guarantee a program with even greater international reach for the next edition of the Festival.

The recently appointed vice presidents of Hay Festival Segovia are Dominica Contreras, Marchioness of Lozoya, former ombudswoman Pilar Luengo de Altares, Julia Casaravilla, owner of the iconic San Marcos Romeral Gardens in Segovia, entrepreneurs Marilyn Cartellone, Margarita González de la Laguna, and Kala Harvey, President of AMETIC, José Manuel de Riva, Vice President of the Telefonica Foundation, Emilio Gilolmo, Director of Ontex Peninsular, Miguel Ángel González, and Santiago Iñiguez, President of IE University.

Revel Guest, President of Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts Foundation stated that it was enormously satisfying to be able to announce that these key figures were to be vice presidents of the Hay Festival Advisory Board. “It is my pleasure to invite everyone to collaborate with the Director of Hay Festival Segovia, Sheila Cremaschil, and her team to make this 10th edition truly memorable.”

Revel Guest, President of the Hay Festival, is a writer and journalist, as well as a film director and producer. A niece of Winston Churchill, she worked in the British Parliament but soon re-directed her career toward the entertainment sector. She has collaborated with the BBC and created her own production house known as “Transatlantic Films.” She has worked with well-known professionals, including Steven Spielberg, with whom she produced the film War Horse.

“Hay Festival Segovia wants to give recognition to the hard work of the people who have been supporting the Festival in different ways over the last few years and who have accepted the challenge to work together on this tenth edition”, said Sheila Cremaschil, director of Hay Festival Segovia. “We will celebrate the ten years of the Festival in Segovia with discussions, debates, conferences, concerts and visual art displays, in roman churches, palaces, convents, gardens, and in Segovia’s Alhondiga building, a world heritage site. We’ll discover new secret places which will be open exclusively for the duration of the Festival. And we will be able to enjoy listening to Spanish talent in conversations with international talent.”
