IE University believes that an excellent means to reinforce education is to apply technology in the learning process in such a way that it can be closely aligned with its students’ training.

The students at IE University use these channels, such as Twitter or Facebook, to share with their internet followers their internship experiences and to show what day to day life is like, where they are working, about the country and customs, as well as to work on their classes online.

Bachelor students at IE University are currently carrying out their internship period in companies and institutions around the world. Patricia Llopis, Coral Pereda, Jaime Pagés, Paola Gilmartín and Tessa Heimbach are five students that, through Twitter or Flicker, bring their personal experiences to dozens of followers. Among them are professors who follow practically in real time not only their work but the emotions and thoughts they have during their experiences beyond campus.

Jaime Pagés, a student in the Bachelor of Architecture program, is doing his internship with the prestigious AEDES Berlin studio. He said that with his Twitter account he “intended to reflect my day to day work in AEDES/ANCEB and the dynamics of the conferences and classes during the online period. I wanted to offer a realistic view of the IE University student, how it is, how it feels, what we do and what occupies our time.” His 140 character messages tell us everything “from traveling by bicycle through Berlin to the welcome cocktails and different guests at ANCB.”

“I had never used Twitter until I began my internship in Berlin. I have enjoyed being able to show the day to day life of an Architecture student at IE University and that there isn´t a fixed structure, but that every day is different and has its own challenges.”

University and technology must be unified. The great challenge of the education of the 21st century is to adapt to the new technological possibilities that allow us to use online training, while at the same time maintaining interaction with students in order to supervise their work and internships. This allows for students, once having finished their degree, to have gained ample academic and professional experience.
