OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
At IE University, we believe that what you learn outside the classroom is just as important as what you learn in the classroom. That’s why we make sure every student has endless opportunities to expand their cultural, personal, and professional horizons.
With our exchange programs, for example, you can study at any of our partner universities across the globe and open yourself up to a whole new culture or language—something that’s becoming more and more important in our increasingly interconnected and globalized world.
We also have our special IEU Labs, a hands-on and internship-like experience on campus that helps you learn extra skills and better prepares you for your future career.
There are also more than 120 clubs to help you find like-minded people who share your hobbies and interests. Ranging from theater to sports, academia, and more, there’s something for everyone.
LEARNING BY DOING
Learning by doing, the very first design exhibition is the result of the introduction to the project-based learning model and the skills needed to begin a design career. In the first year, students started working in the world of design experimentation and problem solving. The methodology unites theory and practice during 10 diverse and agile exercises, both individually and in group, sketching and working with materials at the IE Fablab.
THE DESIGN COUNCIL
In order to remain one step ahead of the game, we are always seeking to fill the gap between education and the real world. This is the key to becoming unstoppable designers who are keenly aware of cutting-edge design trends and social tendencies. Our school understands the need to form this bond and we are aware of the power that first-hand insights can bring to a sector.
For this reason, we have strived to achieve the perfect combination of professionals, industry members, and academics who work as our partners in the field in order to ensure that we are always being provided with invaluable insights and knowledge.
The Design Council at IE University is a stimulating environment in which esteemed professionals, companies, and organizations can share their knowledge and passion for design. This council is composed of three different types of members:
THE ADVISORS
The most up-to-date professionals in the world of design. Their unparalleled knowledge enhances our Design Council and provides key insights into the professional world of design.
As advisors, their main task will be to help us define the council’s agenda, mainly focusing on problems surfacing in the sector across the globe.
THE STUDIOS
Professionals who strive to overcome any client-related challenges that may arise.
These professionals will also share their insider knowledge on how to tackle such problems with our community at IE University.
BUSINESS AND INSTITUTIONS
Individuals who can appreciate the relevance of design in our world today and who use it in their everyday business activities.
These companies and organizations offer IE University students and professors the chance to work on real-world cases, from defining the problem to establishing clear solutions.
