Professor Miguel Gandarillas presents results of research projects at the International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies (EDULEARN10)
IE University professor of Psychology Miguel Ángel Gandarillas Solinís will present his latest research results on academic methodology for higher education at EDULEARN10, the International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies, which take place in Barcelona from the 5th to the 7th of July. The main goal of the International Conference is to promote and disseminate experiences in new technologies applied to education in all fields and disciplines. Dr. Gandarillas will present the results of a series of research projects designed to improve educational methodology and academic management to take advantage of new technologies and to adapt them to the increasing diversity of European classrooms.
Dr. Gandarillas' work stresses the diversity of student´s needs, resources, and potentials for learning in the present and future European university. His work suggests that universities need to identify, orientate, and develop psycho-educational attributes of students throughout the educational process, allowing the student to advance and gain mastery in fields such as learning strategy, critical and creative thinking, and knowledge management. Dr. Gandarillas proposes a “university-student relationship-management model” that treats the relationship as a knowledge value chain which becomes the axis of the university management structure. In this model, the student plays an active role as a vehicle to add and integrate knowledge and competencies as core values. According Professor Gandarillas, new technologies are fundamental to the efficiency and efficacy of academic management and should be adapted to the "learning diversity" of present and future international classrooms.
A group of IE University psychology professors and students also participated in these projects, including professors Gonzalo Martínez, Pilar Gómez, Blanca Barrio, and student Fátima Martí .
EDULEARN10 is an international forum where latest innovations in methodologies applied to research and education will be debated. More than 500 specialists and researchers from 65 countries will be present.
